In this piece I decided since I liked the black and white contrast effect, I would invert it and create a white and black drawing. The materials I used; Black sugar paper and White chalk. I like the different gradients of the black, greys and whites mixing to create a nice tonal effect. I also think that the white in the sides of the feather accurately show where the light was reflecting off the silver surface of the smooth curled sides. If I could improve upon this I would have perhaps used my finger to smudge the edges of the feather to make it look softer.
Using the technique of Monoprinting-where I used a etching plate and ink spread evenly on top of the plate and rolled it out to create a even surface, placing a piece of paper lightly on the surface of the ink draw a pattern with a blunt end of a pencil to create this. When I put pressure on the paper, the ink was pressed on the paper and create a print. If I was to improve this, I would have made more details because it appears very 2d. I would also decide to add a different coloured ink to make it more exciting.
